The Department is actively involved in Emergency Medical and Heavy Rescue Services. All of the City's firefighters are certified to the Emergency Medical Technician - Basic Level.
Response times have also been lowered. One of the primary objectives of the Fire Department continues to be to provide the most efficient service with a favorable response time. In addition to fire-related and medical calls, the Department conducts inspections of all occupancies falling into one of the nine divisions (educational, business, mercantile, institutional, residential, industrial/factory, assembly, storage, hazardous) specified by the State Fire Prevention Code.
